Faith Woodlands Communities
The exciting new Faith Woodlands Communities project aims to promote mutual understanding between people of all faiths, through the common ground of the natural world. Everyone is welcome to discover the peace and pleasure of relaxing and thinking in Maulden Woods, and enjoying interesting, healthy walks away from the stress of modern life.
An area of this ancient woodland has been provided by the Forestry Commission to be highlighted as a permanent spiritual and educational space, with the creation of paths, a Sacred Space for use by all for prayer, contemplation and meditation, a Labyrinth, and explanatory signs. There is a trail leaflet available in the woods, or from (LCOF and BCOF), which explains more about the woods and the project.
It has long been recognised that there are real mental as well as physical benefits from being outdoors, and that many people feel a spiritual connection with nature, either through the teachings of their faith, or simply as part of their life. The site is available to everyone, with events and displays being planned, but also just offering the opportunity to visit at any time, relax and enjoy nature.
